This is an Indian specific subject. It’s an irony that in India we have to think of environment & sanitation both.
In other industrialized nations, where environment is endangered, at least sanitation is already taken care of. But in India, we have two countries. One is harming the nature with urbanization, while the other is still struggling with basics like sanitation. Even the prime minister of India has to run programs like “clean India” to enable people to think about cleanliness and sanitation.
Inclusion of this subject into TGHF is a well thought of idea. We had to do a lot of brain storming before we could arrive of this 5th pillar of the ecological system of TGHF. But this can’t be explained for the urban population, as they’ve never seen the world of slums. Good part is, whether we talk of the tribal or we talk of the urban India, sanitation is well taken care of, but in between in the villages, and the slums this is one of the biggest issues.
